David Ross and the Valley Center Press

As most of you know, David Ross has been one of our neighbors here on Palomar. In fact, he has owned his cabin since the beginning of the century and has published some delightful editorials about life on the Mountain! (Thinking we should turn those around again this winter!)
David has been in the newspaper business for 40 years, both editing and writing most recently for the Valley Center Roadrunner. Click to read why David quit the Roadrunner, and keep reading to see how you can help support the new Valley Center Press:

We need your help!
First of all, thank you all so much for signing up as members of We’re extremely happy to say that we have over 550 active members and we’re growing every day.
But in order to keep the local news you care about in the hands of locals, we need your help. Our new crowd fund site on Rocket Hub has launched, and we’ve already received a few donations toward our goal of $10,000 by October 1.
Click here to check out the project page, and once you’re there, click on the red “fund this project” button to put in your $20, $100, $500 or $1,000 donation. And be sure to watch the two-minute introductory video to find out a little bit more about who we are and what we’re all about.
Thus far, everything you’ve seen on has been done entirely on a voluntary basis, even the excellent news and sports coverage that you’ve come to expect from your local news source. Obviously, we can’t do this forever without paying our local staff — writers and web designers need to eat too! 🙂 — so if you want to be a part of keeping the local news local, give what you can.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Valley Center has always been a community that steps up to support each other in the tough times. The folks who bring you the local news are going through a very tough time — but with your help, we can keep the local news local.
All the best,
The and Valley Center Press team

“I can handle big news and little news. And if there’s no news, I’ll go out and bite a dog.”

  1. Regarding the proposed Weston Towne Centre development, what a shame. It will be no different from driving along Valley Parkway in Escondido, Main Street in Fallbrook, or the main drag in Ramona. One of the most ideal and attractive “town centers” I’ve seen is in Mill Valley. If only Valley Center could emulate that development, it would set Valley Center apart, make it a delightful destination.

  2. I love the “he has owned his cabin since the beginning of the century.” Makes David sound like a very old pioneer!
